Life of an exchange student {in Moscow, Russia (1)}

It took a lot of guts for you to pack your bags and go.

At first, the idea of an exchange program seems so surreal and so far away. You just want to grab the opportunity. Take a chance. You ask yourself, “Why not?” At first, you are applying for the exchange without any real hope. You are submitting your desired destinations and your transcripts and motivation letter(s). You wait patiently without expecting much. And then the surprise is big when you get your first choice. You have reached the next level. Another round of paperwork follows. Days go by quickly and departure is approaching. You still need to pass all exams, get your visa in order. You manage everything on time. Above expectation you pass all your exams in one go. Does the universe want you to GO too? You have booked you “last-minute” single entry flight to Moscow. It becomes more and more real. Yet, still very ungraspable.

And one day, you find yourself saying goodbye to your family at the airport and already on a plane seat next to a stranger: travelling thousands of miles, toward a destination far away from home.

You are so excited, nervous, anxious. All at the same time. Yet you are not afraid. You know that it is a stepping stone towards all your imagined future travels. You know that Moscow will be an experience.

So, you take a deep breath and fly towards a new adventure.
